Karolina Anna Kotus

Karolina holds a BA in Turcology from Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Warsaw and an MA in Turkish Studies from the Institute of Turkish Studies, Hacettepe University in Ankara. In her MA she worked on the Travelbook of the Polish ambassador to Istanbul in 1677-1678, Jan Gniński and the interpretation of his days spent in Istanbul as well as his comments about Ottomans.

She is currently enrolled as a Ph.D. student in the Medieval Studies Department and pursuing her research on the role of the Greek Orthodox Patriarch Cyril Loucaris in the international alliances and political schemes in Europe and the Ottoman Empire.

Her research interest includes, but is not limited to new diplomatic history, Early Modern Ottoman Empire and confession-building processes in the Ottoman Empire.
